Original isolate Esekam IV from Thamnomys species, collected in Esekam, Cameroon in 1974 by Dr J.M. Bafort. Deep freeze stabilate sent to Edinburgh by Dr M Wery in 1977. Passaged into G surdaster, 2EL, frozen 2/11/77; mouse 1EL, frozen 2/11/77. Cloned by Dr F.A. Lainson
